This is the most favorite place on the face of the earth for me. I love sitting there for a long time and daydreaming. I do not have the count how many times I been there. Halebeedu (search in net for: halebeedu, halebeed, halebid or dwarasamudra) is one of the very skilled works I have seen.
There are many reasons why I go there. One is its uniqueness; it is built in Hoysala style – very different from any other south Indian temples (tamilnadu is kingdom of temples; most of all other state temples are built in the same of architectural style, except few historical ones). Second is it is very calm – only Pease lovers come here, god lovers go to the other similar temple nearby belur. And third reason is the surrounding, it’s green.

Hi!
Oh, this is beautiful! I must visit this when I go to India. How do I get there?
@ ganesh
Make sure you visit two more small ruins around that place ( I dont know names of those temples) They are good ., though not skilled as much as these.
@eastcoastlife
If you are planning to come to south india, Bangalore or Mysore its four hour journey from there. one of the protected ruins, and a tourist attraction too.. so almost all maps will be pointing out that.
For the record –
The other temples are located at bastihaLLi, about 2 km from the hoysalEswara temple. There is the kEdArEshwara temple, and a few jaina basadis with amazing reflective pillars.
neelanjana,
Thanks for the information. Very true , those pillars are worth appreciation.
Architecture at Halebidu is exceptionally great! The artists have used the soapstones to maximum extent to display the glory of Indian temple art.Such a charming and unparalleled sculptures.
lovely photos… its been a long time since I went there – more than 1-12 years I guess
It is very very beutiful. Many thanks for publishing.
