A weird analyses on the results for  Top 100 Public Intellectuals Poll conducted by Prospect Magazine (UK) and Foreign Policy (US). Do you see any difference as I did?

People who voted think religious preachers are more impotent intellectuals to this world than atheists. The same crowd was mentally aright  in 2005 . Also , now there are more intellectuals in south Asia and gulf compared to west.

Looks like whole poll has intention of appeasement.

       Some time back Srik asked me “Whats the difference between a Kerala communist and other communists? Well, Kerala communism is a philosophy by itself.       For example, there was “Anti Coke Pepsi” campaign few months back. Kerala assembly discussed it for length and finally decided to ban those products. Next day none of the college campuses had Coke and Pepsi but Sprite, Seven-up, Mirinda, Fanta …were available. A curious journalist asked one of the ministers “Why two products alone, why not ban all the products which are proved to have chemicals”. Minister happily said, “Oops … In assembly we did not discuss other drinks at all … he he”.
Another instance is where they have done blunder in their party name itself (my previous post).

Coming to the point of me being called a Kerala communist when I was a kid, was because of the way I used to argue. Here is an instance I remember –

“Hey mom, Bro is eating curd”
“So???”
“Why am I was not served curd for lunch”
“Alright … take how much ever you want”
“Gee..!! You know I don’t eat curd”
“I know that … that is why I did not serve you”
“But why did you give it to him, all are equal isn’t it”

Soon after my statement there was political oppression on me.

When was the last time you exclaimed “Oh my god” in public ? and which god was it ? You don’t now ?? well , you better know it. Nobody needs to teach Indian hypocrisy and stereotyping; it’s a gift in their blood. We love to laugh at another person’s mole on his nose, while we are standing in a pit full of cow dung. South Indians disliking north Indians, North Indians don’t like south Indians and both together dislike north-east Indians. In fact North-east Indians itself is new usage, for the rest of India they are just “Chinkis”. It’s not racist, just sense of humor.

We have the best culture, language, community and nature; we are best analyzers, psychologists and of course rest of them live in a fish pond. Those people don’t like Mohanlal to be hero in this age are O.K with Rishi Kapur dancing with girl of his grand daughter’s age. One of the most general and popular “happy to be ignorant” story is about a place called Madras in India. People live there are madarassis. For south Indians it is one metropolitan city which is now named as Chennai. But unfortunately for north Indians it is a wide unexplored area comes in south to Maharashtra and Orissa. (For north east Indians it does not matter. Geographically south India has four different states and six to seven different languages, for north Indians it is just madras. The rest of the India thinks whole madras speaks one language Tamil and they survive with Idly Sambar Vada. We made a big deal when Celebrity big brother’s sister did not learn Shilpa’s name isn’t it?

Knowing Hindi is one more misconception around. People worried why rest of the world not bothered learn Hindi. Well why should they? States are organized as linguistic regions. Every state has its own language; they are official and national language as Hindi. Why complain people over there don’t understand my language?

Kashmiri’s don’t love India, Bengali’s don’t take bath, Assamee’s are extremists etc. Generally this or any of such issues are fought in mails and posts. One starts and there will be avalanche of mails/comments, cause it’s easy to write offending mails/posts.

People of North Indian origin is asked to register details in nearby police station (to be sure he has no records) and this guy goes Fs ad Bs. There was an analysis and it was found any of south Indians did not participate in freedom fights.

Strange analyses and may be it explains lot of things. Biharis getting kicked in Assam can be argued right back since Battle of Plassy ( seventeen hundreds I guess ), don’t ask me connection . And of course why marathi’s hate kannadiga’s in belagam ( currently Belagavi I guess ) is because kannadiga’s did not fight for Shivaji against Aurangazeb five hundred years back. Language – Tamil, Tamil and Tamil. Even if they know Hindi, they dont speak up.

Aren’t there any place where India where Hindi Hindi and only Hindi , or Bengali Bengali and only Bengali ? When you are not learning a local language when you are living in it , why are you expecting them to learn a language which is rarely used in their town. and about “even if they know Hindi they dont speak is highly exaggerated. There are some proud , conservative people but they are exceptional cases. Why would an auto driver or a cigarette shop owner ( Most of the time you interact with only these ) does not talk to you in Hindi ( even if he knows ) . There is life he has and he needs to earn to live.

Food – Idly, sambhar, rice, dosa, vada, pongal We have to cook our food ourselves (unbelievable naa). “Even dogs eat curd rice ,”

Once we saw a girl in the food court, she was looking and acting like a north Indian. My friend became exited and planned to talk to her, but just then we noticed her breakfast and then “dil ke armaan aansuon mein beh gaye”, she was having pongal. (disguise!!)

         I have my mind set against all Bollywood movies, which said to be shot abroad. Usually it turns out to be an over-aged college student (typically in his 30s or 40s) and his (variable entity) dancing on European footpath, with a dozen of half-naked European babes (strictly babes, no dudes). Location can be Swiss mountains with the same team dancing in Bollywood invented steps, holding mutkas (pots…. but why pots??). Movie usually has a plot of our heroes’ (ati-vinayi, parama-dayalu, sajjan) love story with heroin (sushil, soubhagyavati) and … hey you’ve seen them. I used to get vomiting sensation with all these karan johar, yash, ghai movies lately. 

           I would have missed an awesome movie, if the movie name was bit less attractive. “Kabul Express” is a rare movie. I think it is the only travelogue produced by Bollywood (if I am not wrong). I still can’t imagine a yash production finished movie without a “zara sa jhoom lon me … “in Afghani mountains, without any typical “Hindi Masala” or without any “item songs”. 

Why Kabul express is different?

• dialogues are written as natural as possible, Indian speaks Hindi/ Indian English , , American speaks English (US) , Pakistani speaks Urdu and Afghanis speak Afghani ( or pashtuni .. whatever it is ) with subtitle displayed. Typically in Indian movie whole world speaks Hindi /Tamil etc.
• No songs, no dance, Hero does not fight, heroin does not weep, Rakhi savant don’t strip etc etc so may differences.
• Excellent sense of humor (by arshad varsi.. I just love this guy). John Abraham is just OK in comparison with him (why this guy is still in industry?)
• Movie is bold. It shows/tells what actually happened (or might have happened) in Afghanistan and Pakistan politically and socially. Directors most of the time fear to present all the things they have in mind (fearing fatwa/censor)

What could have been better?

• Movie could have covered more shots of damage on general social life in Afghanistan.
• The encounter with a Talib is presented in light way. Talib argues for kapildev/imran khan etc. The character of Talib in the movie does not support strength of the name. It’s like “My funny encounter with a Talib”. Technically, it’s not a Talib they meet, a Pakistani agent instead. He is a moderate Taliban (moderate Talib …! what is that??). In the movie he does not represent all inhumane ideas of Taliban regime had, but represents politically true (i feel) Pakistani conspiracy.

Flaws .., I forgive them.

              Imran khan afridi (Talib in the movie) is undercover Pakistani agent in the movie, but was not able to ask “Can you drive this vehicle “in English. Please ignore this flaw, if it is true that Pakistan recruits officers who can not speak English (any Pakistani fellow bloggers  … please educate me on this)

There is a political front in Kerala, calls itself LDF i.e. Left Democratic Front. My questions are, How can a “left front” be “democratic “? Or how can a “democratic” party to have “left” ideas”? Is it a typographic error on the day of christening the front, nobody observed later?

I haven’t read Marx, they must have (I assume this since in bracket they have written Marxist). Just with relevance, here is one more politically incorrect name in Kerala, this happens to be in other front, UDF.

        November 1st this year four of south Indian states celebrated their birth. (In fact, it is for almost all the states in India). HDK, chief minister of Karnataka had a gift to distribute to all Kannadigas. Major cities in Karnataka changed their names. Bangalore ( to Bengalooru ) Mysore ( to Mysooru ) , Mangalore ( to Mangalooru ) , Hubli ( to Hubballi ) , Shimoga to ( Shivamogga ) , Belgam ( to Belagavi ) , Hospet ( to Hosapete ), Bellary ( to Ballary) and Gulbarga ( to Kalburgi ) . These changes were hinted long back, now it is official. Now lot of people seems to be irritated. Looks like general psyche of people. When Madras became Chennai , Bombay became Mumbai nobody bothered, what actual problem is Bangalore has changed the spellings ( another example When Afzal ( a terrorist ) was sentenced death, everyone has problem with such a punishment, when priyadarshini’s murderer is getting the same sentence nobody seems to have time to write about it )

             If you observe the names, they are not changed (except Kalburgi) to a completely new word. They have changed the way how it supposed to be spelt0 in it, in English. The new names (rather spellings) are very near to what people pronounce it, locally. Almost all languages spell what they pronounce, and read the way it is written. There will be a general rule how to spell and pronounce, unless English (where there are rules for every word, and every word is exception for rules of spelling). For example there is a beach city in coastal Karnataka, which is getting spelt as “KAUP”. Now how are we suppose to pronounce it? (Local pronounces it as “kapu”).

Tamil Nadu

In Chennai, Karunanidhi announced a hike in pensions for those who fought for inclusion of border areas in the State from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 and to families of these martyrs, from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000.

Somebody help me understanding who are these “ freedom fighters”, what did they fight for? Do we neet fight for all the borders inside our nation ? like village border , town border etc.

He, however, said demarcation of Tamil Nadu as a linguistic State had actually not benefited the State as it had lost most of its natural resources to its neighbours.

Now this poet (lyricist) has compared moon with girlfriends face. How can he just do it?? I declare a “Fatwa” against the lyricist, Err… Who was it anyway?? Ok Chuck it… I declare it on Salman khan (because he starred the movie… that’s it … don’t ask more).

I declare all the people in the world (including those who are in cradle and also those who are in ICU) to not to hum the song / listen / watch (also any salman khan’s). And the reasons why…

• The moon considered being holy (don’t ask how) in our religion.

• It is considered to calculate the human destiny and his afterlife.

• It used to give light for lovers before candle light diner was invented.

• One holy book has a mention on a particular page (I have not read it any way) that moon is not supposed be compared with anything.

• And also for several other religious reasons… Which can’t be revealed to general public What authority I have?? Do I really need one..??

I also extend the fatwa on Shakespeare, who have done the same mistake (I haven’t read them either)

It’s very natural that a person has affection over me, myself and mine ( ours ). For example, Compare to all culture in the world mine is the best. No matter how illogical and arrogant is the argument, every person has a word to say about mine/ours. Most of them need not have relevance to the present at all and also evidence of which is buried thousands of years ago.

The discussion can be, which race is better ? Who had better civilization ? Which country had a better history ( forget the presence or future ) ? Which religion is better ? Whose god is better ? Etc. etc. Come to India . We have some more matters to taken care in addition. Is north India is better or south ? Which language s better (usually this is Tamil – Hindi argument in internet). Which state is better? Religion and race, who’s is better? Which caste? Which sub caste? Which class? Which faith? Which god? Boy..!! You ask for it. Its there!

One of the topics I was interested in learning was AIT (Aryan invasion theory). Its Almost 100 years, since they proposed theory of AIT. Still there is lot to talk about it and lot to discover also. Fight is between the theories “Aryans actually original inhabitants of India” or “came from outside”. Originally AIT stated by German scholar max Muller, later opposed furiously by one group and opposed by another. Every one wants to prove they are the original forefathers of great India. There was an online book about AIT defining completely different story, title is Bible of Aryan Invasions ( update: the site is banned in india, try these links : light, sabha. If one has no idea about what Indian races and history, will completely get miss-lead by this theory. The book is highly confused between history and mythology. I completely read the book twice, and the summary is “every foreigner came to India since 2000 BC is Aryan, every war happened in India is Aryan – Dravidian”. If given time author world have proved the meteoroids hit in Jurassic age were also Aryan ones. The book is written more with outburst and less with common sense.The author classifies invasions with chronological order. There are around 20 Aryan invasions, starting from rig Vedic Aryan invasion to republic
India the first six of them are based on Veda , purana and Mahabharata

1. Rig Vedic Aryan Invasion (1500 BC)
2. Second Aryan Invasion (1400 BC)
3. The Krishnaite (Third) Aryan Invasion (1200 BC)
4. Mahabharata Aryan Invasion (900-800 BC)
5. Fifth (Solar) Aryan Invasion (800 BC)
6. Ramaite Aryan Invasion & Dravidian Holocaust (600 BC)

The book proposes a historic event(s) with reference of mythology and stories. Nobody yet proved great wars of Ramayana and Mahabharata were real. Most of the things described in these epics are imaginary. The heroes and bad guys in both possess powers and capacities that a normal human being can’t imagine at all. Now can this kind of scriptures be proof of an event happened on human race?

If at all they are considered to be true, and historic, the chronology in which they are presented is completely wrong. Ramaite Aryan Invasion is projected later than The Krishnaite Aryan Invasion. Both history (if they are true) and mythology says otherwise. Now with this kind of messing up, how to believe chronology of rest of them. Some more “truths” described:

“Krishna destroyed the surviving traces of the Indus Valley civilization, abducting and raping 16000 women (low-caste `gopis’) of the races he exterminated“.

Krishna himself was a Sheppard, a Gopal or dada (if he considers as low-caste) and gopi’s are his friends. This is well known fact for one who knows Krishna. Now does The Krishnaite Aryan Invasion make sense? “The revolt by the non-Aryans and mixed races led to the terrible Mahabharatan War between the Aryan Pandavas on one side and the mixed race Kauravas and black aboriginals on the other“

Anyone who read Mahabharata knows pandavas and kauravas are cousins. They fought for land, not race. There goes Mahabharatan Aryan Invasion.“The 6th Aryan invasion of the deep South (Dravidia) by the armies of `Lord’ Ram led to the fall of the Rakshasa (Dravidian) empire & the destruction of the splendid city of
Ravana“.

Rama kills ravana, and gives throne to ravana’s brother; also he does not destroy the city. Anyway these are mythologies. I seriously do not understand which version of mythologies author referred.

The next part explores Indian history. As usual, every Indian war/battle is fight between Aryan and other races. Those who won are Aryans and lost are Dravidians, Semites, Nagas what not. It is very simple to build a thesis like this. Find one battle happened in India say Kargil war. now add Aryan invasion to it prove it kargil Aryan invasion. Nice isn’t it? Greeks, Romans, Mongols, Muslims, Mughals, Portuguese, English, French… all are Aryans here. Find a year they came to India and add Aryan invasion end of their name. Congratulation, you created one more Aryan invasion.According to the book some of the Aryan invasions are ( please observe the words Aryan Islamic invaders, Buddhist Aryan Invasion etc)

Now come to independent India. The book defines masteries of AIT. It might be summarized as “Aryan north India got independence from Aryan British and Aryan Pakistanis also got independence from Aryan British and. Aryan Gandhi and Aryan Nehru..” etc. It goes on. Like there are male-female , only Aryan – Dravidian author can think about. You read it.

India (1947 – ) : TheRepublic ofIndia officially perpetrated the pro-Aryan government of the English. There are some arguments here, which I found completely silly and illogical. 1. Andhra , Orissa , Rajasthan and srilanka special kind of states. When some one attacked on these states that are Aryan invasion. When these states attack on some one it again Aryan invasion.

I was completely confused with this theory everything happened inIndia is because of Aryans, every natural calamity, oil rate, tsunami .. Whatnot. You can prove anything like this. Some of them are2. “The most recent detailed study written of the relevant documents in fact arrives at the conclusion that it was the Congress that insisted on partition. It was Jinnah who was against partition“. Yeh…!! Right. And Indian people were against independence and British are for since World War 1.
