Come to my work, I am currently adding 15manhrs per day to Indian economy. I did it on Independence day also. Gandhiji must be really happy, clients weren’t.

Whenever they play music in my office (on weekends ), i recall “shawshank redemption”… does this happen to you too?

       Some time back Srik asked me “Whats the difference between a Kerala communist and other communists? Well, Kerala communism is a philosophy by itself. It is “take policies as time changes and completely forget where they started”. In my opinion it is a complete hypocrisy. Infact, communism in India has lost its meaning. If Karl Marks was alive today, he would have definitely taken rat poison.
      For example, there was “Anti Coke Pepsi” campaign few months back. Kerala assembly discussed it for length and finally decided to ban those products. Next day none of the college campuses had Coke and Pepsi but Sprite, Seven-up, Mirinda, Fanta …were available. A curious journalist asked one of the ministers “Why two products alone, why not ban all the products which are proved to have chemicals”. Minister happily said, “Oops … In assembly we did not discuss other drinks at all … he he”.
Another instance is where they have done blunder in their party name itself (my previous post).

Coming to the point of me being called a Kerala communist when I was a kid, was because of the way I used to argue. Here is an instance I remember –

“Hey mom, Bro is eating curd”
“So???”
“Why am I was not served curd for lunch”
“Alright … take how much ever you want”
“Gee..!! You know I don’t eat curd”
“I know that … that is why I did not serve you”
“But why did you give it to him, all are equal isn’t it”
“You don’t eat, I did not give it to you. Your brother eats, so he is eating”
“There is no equality in this house, if all are equal how come some are served more??”
Soon after my statement there was political oppression on me.
Now when I look back, I feel it’s kinda cute. Thatz me!!!

This story dates back to two years. I was in Hyderabad then. Those were really wonderful days and we used to call it as “Paid holidays”.

This is about one funny incident (accident), which is still number second most embarrassing moments (first one was i got a degree ). Alright come to the point.. one fine day me and one my colleagues were left for a dinner and suddenly we realized the lift jammed between two floors, power went off. That “colleague” was a “she”, and as expected she started off with “mummyy…:-( “. I too was reluctant to shout for help, cause i din’t want my leg gets pulled ( I love the other way round). We waited for some time , power dint come nor any help. I too was fed up.. how long can you keep singing “Hum tum .. ek kamre me bandh ho….”. We called for help ( hutch has good network )

there starts the story. Did they come..? , yes they all came holding popcorn and coke, as if they are coming to a zoo or cinema. (To mention one of my best friend called me and .”what raa… lifta.. sikkibiddadda…?? lovvaa…” and also “shit , i missed the whole show.” show ????

They all literally acted like they are looking at a rare animal. Only thing remaining was they poke us with a stick and throw peanuts. Watchman miya came and he too joined them for the party.

Dear Domino’s and Subway,
Congratulations on loosing one more customer. Thanks for all the wrong deliveries you have done to me. I took long time before I settle down, after trying chapathis of pizza corner, paranthas and pizza hut and vada pav of Marry brown. It was taste and quality that made me keep ordering you. But now, it looks like you misplaced recipe.

Its too late now, I am tired. You both together lost around 1500 Rs business per week. There are some things I want to ask (and shout).

• I repeatedly telling Jalapeño am my favorite. When I say I need more Jalapeño on subway and extra Jalapeño topping on my pizza, I mean “I NEED ““EXTRA” of them. I did not find a single piece of it. Do you know English?
• If you haven’t put Jalapeño, please tell me you haven’t. “It’s embedded inside the pizza”, “it’s in the form of pizza” etc are simply not acceptable. Your delivery boys think I am and lallu-pappu is it?
• When I say “one” it is “one”, when I say “two” I really mean I need “two”. Please don’t send one coke less and argue that is what I ordered. I know my orders and you billed it. Your apologies don’t fill my stomach.
• Please do not display that Paresh Rawal ad “30 min, else pizza free”. I was just wondering how many people you have fooled already.
• When I want a sub, I need Italian vegetables in it, a pizza should have all the things it is written in pamphlets, and garlic bread should have garlic paste on it. These are all for your information. I strongly believe you have misplaced recipe.
• Call your head office and confirm, are you really authorized to customize pizzas and subs based on local food. Only cabbage, tomato and cucumber will make it look like veg sandwich. I dint order for that and I am not willing to pay that amount you have written.
• If you don’t have small and medium pizzas, you supply only large ones, please close your shop for the day.

One of the random shots of a jobless day(college days).

I recall some of my super seniors took seven to eight years to finish their engineering. During exams some of them used to come to me (also) for tuitions on several engineering theories.

Next year they just drop by and tell “No yaar, I don’t clear it this time. BTW… Are you there in college next year? I need the same tuition again”. They some time accumulate 10 to 15 un-cleared subjects in their hand. Here is one of such guys. He goes into records for clearing 29 subjects in one shot.

In our terms we call it “morning show – matinee show” Just observe the timings he has written the papers. Hats off Man.

I usually don’t miss first rains.  I the odor they bring from year old dust.( Only first rain, not the second rain – the second brings smell from drainage ) .

There are several other aromas I like, I remember only some of them now. This is the list. If you have your favorite aroma list leave it in comments.

ಪೂಚಂತೇಯವರ ಮೊದಲ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ನಾನು ಓದಿದ್ದು “ಕರ್ವಲೋ”. ಆಗ ನಾನಿನ್ನೂ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಹುಡುಗ, ಐದ್ನೇ ಕ್ಲಾಸಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೆ. ಹೈಸ್ಕೂಲಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅಣ್ಣನಿಗೆ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಹುಮಾನವಾಗಿ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ರು ( ತಟ್ಟೆ ಪ್ಲೇಟು ಬಹುಮಾನವಾಗಿ ಕೊಡೋ ಪದ್ದತಿ ಆ ಸ್ಕೂಲಿನಲ್ಲಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ). ನನಗೆ ಅದು ದೆವ್ವ ಭೂತಗಳ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒದೋ ಕಾಲ ( ಅರೇಬಿಯನ್ ನೈಟ್ಸ್, ವಿಕ್ತ್ರಮ ಬೆತಾಳನ ಕಥೆಗಳು ). “ಕರ್ವಲೊ” ಕೇಳೊಕೆ ಹೆಸರು ವಿಚಿತ್ರವಾಗಿತ್ತು , ಕೇಳಿದ್ರೆ ” ಕರ್ವಲೊ ಅಂತ ಒಬ್ಬ ವಿಜ್ನಾನಿ , ಅವರೂ ಮತ್ತೆ ಕೆಲವರೂ ಹಾರೋ ಉಡದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗೊ ಕಥೆ”.

ಹಾಗೊ ಹೀಗೊ ಮುಗಿಸಿದೆ … ಹೀರೋ ಭೂತದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಫೈಟಿಂಗ್ ಮಾಡ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂತ ಸೊಲ್ಪ ಬೇಜರಾಯ್ತು. ಕ್ಲಾಸಿಕ್ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳೇನೆಂದರೆ ಐಡಿಯಾನೇ ಇರ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಶಾಲೆಯ ಗಣಿತ ಪುಸ್ತಕಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ದಪ್ಪದ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಓದಿಬಿಟ್ಟೆ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಅಶ್ಟೇ. ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ “ಸುರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿ” ಓದೋ ಕಾಲ ಅದು. ಕತ್ತೆಗೇನು ಗೊತ್ತು ಕಸ್ತೋರಿ ಗಂಧ. ಮುಂದಿನ ನಾಲ್ಕೈದು ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಏಳೆಂಟು ಸಲ ಓದಿ ಜಸ್ಟಿಸ್ ಕೊಟ್ಟೆ ಪುಸ್ತಕಕ್ಕೆ.

ಮುಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷ ಅಣ್ಣ “ಶಿವನಿಪಳ್ಳಿಯ ಕಪ್ಪು ಚಿರತೆ” ತಂದ, ಬಹುಮಾನವಾಗಿ. “ಕೆನ್ನೆತ್ ಆಂಡರ್ಸನ್” ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ್ಯಪೂರ್ವ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇಟೆಯಾಡಿದ ನರಭಕ್ಷಕ ಚಿರತೆ ಹುಲಿಗಳ ಕಥೆಗಳು. ನನ್ನ್ನ ಪೋಚಂತೇ ಅನುವಾದ. ಪುಟಪುಟವೂ ರೊಮಾಂಚಕವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆಂಡರ್ಸನ್ ಯಾರೋ ಕೇಳಿ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ , ತೇಜಸ್ವಿಯಂತೂ ಒಂದುವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಪರಿಚಯ. ಸೊ.. ಇನ್ನೂ “ಶಿವನಿಪಳ್ಲಿ..” ಬೇಟೆಯಾಟ ನೋಡಿದ್ರೆ ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ ಬೇಟೆಗಳೇ ನೆನಪಾಗುತ್ತೆ.

ಮಧ್ಯದಲೊಮ್ಮೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಹಳ್ಳಿ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಮಾಮನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಡಿ ಬೇಡಿ ಅವರ ಕಲೆಕ್ಶನ್ನಿಂದ ‘ಮಿಸ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಲಿಂಕ್” ಓದಿದ್ದೆ. “ನಿಯಾಂಡರ್ತಲ್ , ಕ್ರೊ – ಮ್ಯಾಗ್ನನ್” ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದ್ರು ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ.

ಮುಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷ ನನ್ನ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ಉರಿಸೊಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಬಂತು. ನಾನಿನ್ನೂ ತಟ್ಟೆ ಪ್ಲೇಟು ಬಹುಮಾನ ಕೊಡುವ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್ನಲ್ಲೇ ಓದುತಿದ್ದೆ. “ಪರಿಸರದ ಕಥೆಗಳು” ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದ ಪುಸ್ತಕ. ನನಗಿನ್ನೂ ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ ಅಂದ್ರೆ “ಪರಿಸರದ ಕಥೆಗಳು” … ಬಂದೂಕು ಬೆನ್ನಿಗೇರಿಸಿ , ಪ್ಯಾರ , ಮಾರ ( ಇನ್ನೂರೈವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದ ಹುಡುಗ ) ಮತ್ತು ಕಿವಿ ( ಬೇಟೆ ನಾಯಿ ) ಜೊತೆ ಕಾಡು ಮೇಡುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರುಗಾಡಿ ಪರಿಸರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬರೆದ ಸಾಹಿತಿ. ಸುಷ್ಮಿತಾಗೆ ಹಕ್ಕಿಮರಿ ಪಾಟ ಹೇಳಿ , ಊರ ಮೇಸ್ತ್ರಿ ಜೊತೆ ಜಗಳ ಮಾಡೊ ಈ ಯುವಕ ಇನ್ನಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಹೇಗೆ ತಾನೆ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಮಾಡ್ಲಿ. ಪರಿಸರದ ಕಥೆಗಳು ಯಾವ ಜಮಾನಾದ್ದು ಅಂತ ಯಾವಾಗ್ಲೂ ರೀಸರ್ಚ್ ಮಾಡ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದ ಸಾಹಿತಿ ಅಂತ ನ್ಯೂಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಓದಿದ್ದೆ, ಯಾಕೋ ಬೇಜಾರಾಯ್ತು… ಬದುಕಿದ್ದಾಗ ಒಮ್ಮೆನೂ ಭೆಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗ್ಲಿಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲ ಅಂತ.

ಆ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಓದಿದ್ಮೇಲೆ ತಂದೆ ತಾಯಿಯಿಂದ ಸಾಕಶ್ತೂ ಬೈಸಿಕೊಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಕಾಡು ಹಂದಿ ಹುಡುಕಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟಕಾಡು ( ಚಿಕ್ಕವುಗಳು ) ಓಡಾಡಿ ಅಂಗಿ ಚಡ್ಡಿ ಹರ್ಕೋಂಡು , ನಾಲ್ಕೈದು ಪರ್ಸೆಂಟ್ ಮೆಲನಿನ್ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದ್ರೆ ಯಾರಿಗೆ ತಾನೆ ಖುಶಿಯಾಗುತ್ತೆ. ನಾನೂ ನನ್ ಪಟಾಲಂ ನಾಮಗೋಳಿಗಳೂ, ಜಕಾನಾ ( ಪೂಚಂತೇ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲೇ ಓದಿದ್ದು , ಈ ತನಕ ನೋಡಿಲ್ಲ ) ಹಳ್ಳ ಕೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಡುಕಾಡಿದ್ದು, ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಯಾವುದೊ ಮೀನುಗಳನ್ನು ಜೀವಂತ ಹಿಡಿದು ವಟಾರದ ಬಾವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟದ್ದು , ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಾವಿ ಕ್ಲೀನ್ ಆಗುತ್ತೆ ಅಂತ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು … ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪೂರ್ಣಚಂದ್ರ ತೇಜಸ್ವಿ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಪ್ರಭಾವನೇ.

When this song released, Kurt Donald Cobain was lying (supposedly) high on streets (with normal dose of heroin). Cops gave him roof that night, while radio stations repeatedly playing this song “Smells like teen spirit” a new genre altogether. Within no time song was topping the charts, and teen found a new god.
