The results are out, and Taj Mahal has passed the exam. Here is my contribution.
It was very stupid of them to have a voting system for selecting wonders. Don’t they know India and China constitute most of world’s population ? We just vote for anything that is ours. Look at the other wonders., Taj’s not worth there.
You can easily guess what will be world wonders coming years. Taj Mahal, Marina Beach, Thirupathi Temple… so on.
PS: In an TV road interview it was asked “what will be the next (this time) world wonders?”. One of the answer was “Taj mahal.. ann..hmm.. Minakshi Temple.. hmm .. then … Marina Beach ??”. 
Quite right you are. However, I have read somewhere that this voting has no official acceptance by UNESCO etc., and some private company doing to encash the frenzy.

That result won’t be of any importance…..what about effiel tower, statue of liberty…they can be only wonder and never can be replicated…machu pichu and that building of mexico did not deserve this place. Also one thing we can note that monuments belonging to the populous country like india, china , brazil got into top 7. Also UNESCO and any other organisation too did not accept it.

I did not vote…I would have been ashamed, though, had it not been selected as one of the 7 wonders of the modern world…now that its ‘elected’ I don’t feel elated either.
It’s however THE TAJ MAHAL…and would remain an engineering marvel and a symbol of eternal love for ever even if all the millions had not voted…
I think the Egyptians were right all along…they didnt need any certification from anyone for their pyramids…
By being given a “honorary mention” I do not think the pyramids would loose any significance and its rightful place is human history all the people who would visit them…
