Are you aware of the cheat to pause Minesweeper’s timer? I don’t want to spoil you fun by mentioning it here.

  4. 4 bachodi January 24, 2007 at 1:46 am

I know such a thing is possible, but yes there is no fun doing it. Even if you’d mentioned it here i wouldn’t use it ( i guess ;-) )Thank you.

my best time on expert is 80 seconds and intermediate 31 and beginner 7!! i’ve only been playing 1 year hahaha

  6. 6 bachodi January 25, 2007 at 8:04 am

    Congrats anonymous.
Later I achieved around 98 seconds, but certainly not better than yours. I stopped playing beginner and intermediate, since i observe those scores are highly based on luck (as compared to expert)

N ha… you forgot to mention your name here.

  7. 7 no account January 28, 2007 at 2:35 am

i have been playing for less than a month and i my best score on beginner is 4 seconds [[and i didnt' cheat]]

  8. 8 bachodi January 31, 2007 at 3:36 am

I would have something to say if you had done it in expert.

  18. 18 Seff January 8, 2008 at 11:07 am

Only been playing a few months.

    My best scores are:
    Beginner: 1 seconds
    Intermediate: 91 seconds
    Expert: 248 seconds

I’ve gotten one second a few times though.

  19. 19 MN-IA February 15, 2008 at 10:54 pm

my best score on expert is 104 – just got it today. I don’t believe anyone who says they cleared it in 80 seconds. You had to use the cheat. Unless you can prove it I don’t believe it.

  20. 20 Macy March 4, 2008 at 2:05 pm

So addicted to minesweeper! My current best times are Beginner 7 secs, Intermediate 36 secs, and Expert at 95 seconds. :)

  21. 21 Tim March 27, 2008 at 11:37 pm

I’d love to see the 80 sec … I used to be an avid player and I was very good way back then on win 95 … my time then was 94 sec as I can remember also intermediate was 30+ and the beginner was 3-4 sec (pure luck) … needless to say my best score now is 160+ :( I guess if u leave it u lose it

my technique is very simple …
    a. uncover the 4 corners first
    b. never try to figure out difficult cells (the maybes) just move on … in time there were some combos …
    c. don’t waste time to uncover the obvious ones…

simple .. and I need to get back in shape … (which I really doubt) not sure whther it’s the mouse or the speed of the computers nowadays … :(

  22. 22 wissam May 18, 2008 at 8:45 pm

my best score on expert is 89 sec and recently i’m back to the game to beat my friend’s freaking true 73 sec.

  23. 23 Frank July 16, 2008 at 5:53 pm

My best time on expert is 79 sec.

The trick is instead of clicking each square individually that you know is not a mine, you should move your cursor over the number (which has every mine touching it marked) and click both mouse buttons simultaneously. This will clear all other non-mine squares adjacent to that number.

    Hope that helps.

    Hats off to you all.

On this computer my best score at expert is 112 seconds. I think I had a 104 on a previous computer. And once, when I was visiting my parents I got a 91; however, it was four in the morning I was drunk and- despite the fact that best times had me listed at 91 seconds- I always thought there must have been some lock-up or glitch in the computer that somehow gave me an extra 20 or 30 seconds. Who knows?

I’ve been using a tablet for a couple years and, while my average times have slipped to the 140’s, I finish more puzzles than I used to.

  25. 25 Sam October 27, 2008 at 1:03 pm

I was stuck on 108 seconds for AGES.
then all of a sudden i got 89

i was so surprised. I didn’t believe it at first. I wasn’t even trying that hard. Maybe its that moment of unconscious ‘zen’ or some bullshit. But yes, definitely cant beat this one again.

  26. 26 Chris October 30, 2008 at 1:52 am

I’m obsessed by Minesweeper but not time challenges, instead I start with the largest grid possible and gradually increase the number of mines whenever I’m successful.

I’ve been going up in 5’s for years but since cracking 195 a few years back I’ve been stuck on 200.

The closest I ever got was down to 2 final squares. A 50/50 shot and I guessed wrong. My pride won’t let me accept that.

Must be something about the desktop games though, I played Freecell until I got 100 wins in a row and have vowed never to play it again, I think I’ll do the same when I beat 200 on Minesweeper.

I believe I may be a little insane.

  27. 27 Bubba November 19, 2008 at 10:57 pm

My best time on lap top without a mouse is 133. With a mouse is 144 go figure.

  28. 28 coco December 2, 2008 at 8:24 pm

    beginner 4secs
    intermediate 32secs
    expert 101 secs

obsessed til i duck under 100. i know i’m capable of around 94

  29. 29 elven espinar February 25, 2009 at 9:43 pm

    beginner = 7
    intermediate = 51
    expert = 123

  30. 30 Persis March 23, 2009 at 3:28 pm

It can be beat it under 80 seconds with no cheating I swear. My usual time is in the 90-100 second range for expert, but I happened to beat it in 79 seconds recently.

    My best times:
    Beginner: 4
    Intermediate: 26
    Expert: 79

I’m just a bored college student with too much time on my hands and a little bit of an obsession with logic games.

    It can definitely be done.

  31. 31 paris April 18, 2009 at 5:05 pm

My best score on beginner is 8 seconds and i firmly believe anyone who gets less than 3 seconds is cheating since it is virtually impossible to even click that fast, also if someone gets one second they obviously beat it by clicking once thus implying they changed the height and length of the map.

  32. 32 Anonymous August 17, 2009 at 10:37 pm

    BEGINNER: 1) 1s
    2) 2s
    3) 2s
    4) 3s
    5) 3s

    Nope, no cheating paris. Fast-clicking.

    INTERMEDIATE: 1) 49s
    2) 56s
    3) 89s
    4) 94s
    5) 101s

    HARD: N/A

  33. 33 Stephanie October 16, 2009 at 6:21 pm

I’m a minesweeper addict. Currently since my oldest child deleted all my best scores off last month when I was teaching him how to play, I’m at
    Beginner 7 seconds
    Intermediate 48 seconds
    Advanced 186 seconds

I’m forgetting all about times though. Now I’m going for percentage wins on advanced. I’ve always had a 1% 2% win ratio. I just completed a tortuous accelarated upper division business economics course for a client, and suddenly my minesweeper skills improved and I saw three new patterns in advanced. I’ve improved my win ratio on advanced to 6% from 3% last week, and am considering clearing all my scores out to start the advanced out fresh and see how high I can push my win percentage on advanced.

Did get the first click clears the board in advanced once in highschool over a decade ago, and a couple times for the other levels.

lol, luvs the minesweeper minesweeper minesweeper!

  34. 34 lakshya October 16, 2009 at 8:16 pm

    mine are
    beginner 7
    intermediate 37
    and expert 135
    in vista

  35. 35 Badcog October 23, 2009 at 1:34 pm

Here are some patterns to recognize:

    x = bomb o = open ? = unknown | = wall

    121 1221 232 |111 |112
    xox oxxo xxx ??o ??x

the first 3 work anywhere in a “wall”

the “|” in the second two represents the end of the board or a corner. remember, you can subtract the number of mines touching a square from the number in the square to create these simple patterns and all of them still work. Also, be careful that no other mines are touching any of these squares potentially augmenting their values.

    ex.
    |x1o becomes:
    |222 |112
    so: |??x

  36. 36 Badcog October 23, 2009 at 1:39 pm

My patterns didn’t post correctly here they are in vertical orientation:

    1x
    2o
    1x

    1o
    2x
    2x
    1o

    2x
    3x
    2x

    __
    1?
    1?
    1o

    __
    1?
    1?
    2x

    ex.
    __
    x2
    12
    o2
    becomes:
    _
    1
    1
    2
    so:
    ___
    x2?
    12?
    o2x
