Bangalore is just another city

This post is coming up with quite delay. I am writing after everything is burned and calmed down. Ask me what where you doing while Rome was burning. I was with my violin.
I don’t know places in Bangalore. I never stayed in bang lore, never more than two days. But something is there in Bangalore which fascinates me. The place, the culture, people and food etc some to list. The cool and calm was there till one nice guy departed. Then comes the riots, the loot for a day and night. Now every one is pointing out Banglorians, localities and the kannadigas. One guy wrote “bloody kannadigas” and some “lunatics” and, friend of mine told the blind worship is never to be seen anywhere in India but south. Do you really think whatever really happened is because of raj..?? I don’t buy it. A nice person, who never contested an election, never asked people to vote for some one, and his death will cause a riot..??
I see there nothing to protest and loot in the name of him, there is some other reason. The frustration! It’s because there are more than 70% of the populations now is non-kannadigas. Who came there after listening melodies story that ” Bangalore is one great place”. Less pollution, smaller slums, great weather etc. etc. They came to take, not give. Most of them simply refuse to adapt the culture. Instead complain. They complain infrastructure in not well (must be comparing with Singapore). There is a bigger gap now between who were there and who came there. Now answer these questions.
How many of the S/w engineers/ITES or students, people came there staying more than two years can’t be able to frame a single sentence in Kannada. While that is greatly achieved in neighboring Chennai. Complain they localities don’t talk Hindi.
How many of the non- kannadigas took an initiative the solve any of the city problems, rather than cribbing or forwarding mails about the pot holes. The city provides your daily bread.
Hooligans are there everywhere. They will come to a cricket match and throw bottle, they will burn some ATM in Hbad for some cartoonist in Denmark, in Delhi for some politician resignation, in Chennai in a flood relief queue, in France, in Nepal, in Fiji where they are not there. So what’s a big deal if it happened in your own Bangalore? It’s just another city

Just another city? well, i ve been there as
exchange student at IIMB (more on my blog) and i loved it… You could eventually say just “another indian city”. Cities are made of people and indians are passionate individuals. Most of them live for their dreams, their religion, their movie stars, cricket players etc… Passions can easily turn into riots, or worse, terrorism.

Elise… back in bangalore in july!

    I agree with you,….

Its true that in bangalore there are bangaloreans and kannadigas, being a kannadiga myself I feel an outsider here. Place where i live I never heard people speaking in kannada,.. its eiteher tamil or telugu.

Well its nice topic you picked up ,..

can you define who are bangaloreans?
    and who is outsider ?

Manju in the present scenario u have to live with it. Bangalore is accustomed to all the language, so it is attracted by all unlike chennai.

Good topic bachodi, In bangalore this happnd only for Dr. Raj, and i am dam sure that in such masses it will never happen for any other actor. But this is not the way to pay respect to person like him.

in my opinion these riots which you talked about were not caused by comon people. they had some political cause. a turbulance, opposition wanted to stir. Bangaloreans-nonBangaloreans, thats a different issue all together.

    Hai,

Your article was really a good one.
I was part and parcel of the whole incidence on that day
From the morning till the things got over I was roaming all around
My friend had bike and I was with him through out
It was very difficult to get food on that day
Nearly we had to ride minimum of 15 Km for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner respectively.
I was an eye witness to some of the burning incidence, lathi charge… looting and most of the police getting beaten badly
Any way was an experience which may not get in future…….
ll the bad things were powered by political influence taking the lives of innocent
No body wanted or liked such kind of send off to Raj Kumar… who strongly believed in peace and love

how did ppl react wen Elvis Presley died? huh? Dr.Raj is for Karnataka wat Elvis was to the western world or maybe evn the whole world. believe me its no worse than chasing celebrities to take pics of them evntually killing them (eg princess diana). but anyway back to the point it may jst be an other city to u bt its home for bangaloreians.how did u lyk it wen the british or anyonle else invaded india? yeah its jst lyk that nw…..ppl go there to feed their families but treat the city lyk crap. outsiders are wat made the city crap in the first place. if u are a father or a mother or anybody hu is supporting a family hw wud u feel if ur children treated u lyk crap and didnt evn appreciate wat udid for them?
